I am interested in the relationships between information and placement, action and consequence, experience and time, ritual and movement, layering and memory, empathy and entropy. Much of my work develops out of studio experimentation, combining material studies with research focussed on science, language, categorization, significance, translation, and orientation. Each investigation leads to further explorations and questions.
The significance of selection is essential in my studio practice. Each query does not begin necessarily as a deliberate intention, but by preference becomes an area of further exploration for meaning, form, and relevance, often manifesting into a disorientation of the microscopic and macroscopic. Many of the works are the products of years of experimentation, developing once an identifiable connection is made, with historical threads both apparent and esoteric.
